Frequently Asked Questions
- Do volunteers receive any
financial compensation for their services?
Members of the team are required to cover all of their costs for
the mission. There are no payments for service although a tax
receipt is available for the charitable work of the mission.
- May I request placement in a specific
location?
Presently we are only sending teams to Antigua and The Gambia
for medical/surgical missions. These two missions occur at
different
times of the year.
- Is there an age limit?
There is no particular age limit although
medical/nurse practitioners
must be licensed to practice there
area of medicine.
- Can my family accompany me?
Yes, family may accompany you, however the arrangements for
accommodation and airfare are the responsibility of the
individual.
- What kind of hours of work are
expected?
The work involved is unlike your regular health care job. You will
be required to be involved in a variety of tasks including
stocking
and organizing all of the equipment and medical
supplies we bring
with us. During the days of medical services
the hours may be variable
but certainly may exceed the 'normal'
working day depending on
the number of patients and type of
medical work. In any event there
is plenty of time to enjoy the
surrounding areas.
